# How to schedule Facebook posts from your computer

To schedule a Facebook post, open Meta Business Suite, click Create post, write the post, turn on Set date and time under Scheduling options, pick a slot between 20 minutes and 29 days away, then click Schedule. A scheduling tool such as Weekbird does the same for Pages alongside your other networks.

**Key takeaways**

- Meta Business Suite schedules Facebook Page posts between 20 minutes and 29 days ahead.
- You need full control or Content permission on the Page to create or schedule posts.
- Meta uses your current time zone for the scheduled time, so check it before you travel.
- Scheduled posts live in the Planner and the Content tab, where you can edit, reschedule or move them to drafts.
- Weekbird schedules posts to Facebook Pages only; it does not post to Groups.

You can schedule Facebook posts from your computer in Meta Business Suite: click **Create post**, write the post, turn on **Set date and time**, pick a slot and click **Schedule**. Meta accepts times between 20 minutes and 29 days away. If you post to several networks each week, a scheduling tool lets you plan Facebook alongside the rest.

This guide covers how to schedule Facebook posts both ways, the limits that trip people up, and what to check when a post fails to go out.

## Quick answer

Meta Business Suite is the built-in route. It schedules posts for Facebook Pages and Instagram, and its desktop composer can also target a Facebook Group.

A third-party scheduler is the other route. You connect your Page once, then plan Facebook posts on the same calendar as LinkedIn, Instagram or Bluesky.

## Schedule with Meta Business Suite on desktop

Before you start, make sure you have full control of the Page or **Content** permission for it. Without one of these, Meta won't let you create or schedule posts.

1. Switch to the Page you want to post as.
2. Click **Meta Business Suite** in the left menu.
3. Click **Create post** below the Page's profile picture.
4. Under **Post to**, pick the Page. You can add your Instagram account here if you want the same post on both.
5. Add photos under **Media** and write your text under **Post details**. You can tailor the text for Facebook and Instagram separately.
6. Next to **Scheduling options**, turn on **Set date and time** and choose the slot.
7. Click **Schedule**.

### Pick a time with Active times

The **Active times** button suggests slots based on when your followers were active on Facebook and Instagram over the past 7 days. Treat it as a starting point. Our guide to the best time to post on Facebook explains how to test slots for your own audience.

### Edit or move a scheduled post

Open **Planner** from the left menu to see scheduled posts by week or month. Click a post, then **Options**, to edit it, duplicate it, reschedule it, move it back to drafts or delete it.

The **Content** tab gives you the same posts as a list, split into Published, Scheduled, Drafts, Expiring and Expired.

### On your phone

The Meta Business Suite app works the same way. Tap **Content**, choose Posts, Reels or Stories, tap **Create**, add your text and media, then tap **Next** and **Schedule for later**.

## Limits to know

- **Scheduling window in Meta Business Suite**: value: 20 minutes to 29 days ahead; source (checked 2026-10-10): [Facebook Help Center](https://www.facebook.com/help/389849807718635)
- **Time zone used**: value: Your current time zone; source (checked 2026-10-10): [Facebook Help Center](https://www.facebook.com/help/389849807718635)
- **Who can schedule**: value: Full control or Content permission on the Page; source (checked 2026-10-10): [Meta Business Help Center](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/942827662903020)
- **Reel length (API publishing)**: value: 3 to 90 seconds, 9:16; source (checked 2026-10-10): [Meta for Developers](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/video-api/guides/reels-publishing)
- **Reel scheduling (API publishing)**: value: More than 10 minutes out, within 29 days; source (checked 2026-10-10): [Meta for Developers](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/video-api/guides/reels-publishing)
- **Reels per Page (API publishing)**: value: 30 per 24 hours; source (checked 2026-10-10): [Meta for Developers](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/video-api/guides/reels-publishing)

The Reel rows apply to tools that publish through Meta's API. Meta's Pages API guide does not state a maximum post length, so we have left text length out of this table. Our [social media character limits](/guides/social-media-character-limits) guide tracks the limits that networks do publish.

## Fix common problems

Meta lists three usual causes when you can't schedule or a scheduled post doesn't go out:

- **You lack publishing access.** Ask a Page admin to give you full control or Content permission, then try again.
- **The linked Instagram account has an issue.** A post scheduled to both Facebook and Instagram can publish to one and fail on the other. Fix the Instagram account, or schedule the Facebook post on its own.
- **A system error stopped the post.** In Meta Business Suite, click **Content**, then **Scheduled**, and look for an error message on the post. You can publish it by hand from there.

Two more checks save time:

- **The post went out at the wrong hour.** Meta schedules in your current time zone. If you set up a week of posts while travelling, open Planner and confirm the times.
- **The date picker won't accept your slot.** The slot is either less than 20 minutes away or more than 29 days out. Pick a time inside that window.

## Schedule with Weekbird

I built Weekbird for people who plan a week of posts across several networks and want one calendar for all of it. For Facebook, the steps are:

1. Connect your Facebook Page in Weekbird. Weekbird asks Meta for publishing permission on the Pages you choose.
2. Write the post once in the composer, then adjust the Facebook version if it needs different text or media. Weekbird checks each version against that network's rules before you can schedule it.
3. Pick a day and time, or place the post on the week calendar.
4. Confirm. The post appears on the calendar next to your other channels, and you can move it to a new slot.

Weekbird connects Facebook Pages only. It does not post to Facebook Groups, so keep using Meta Business Suite for those. Plans start at $24 a month with unlimited posts. The Facebook network page lists the post types Weekbird supports.

## Questions

### Can I schedule a Facebook post from my computer?

Yes. Open Meta Business Suite in your browser, click **Create post**, turn on **Set date and time** under Scheduling options and click **Schedule**.

### Can I schedule posts to a Facebook Group?

Meta Business Suite on desktop lists a Facebook Group as a possible destination under **Post to**. Some third-party schedulers, Weekbird included, post to Pages only, so check a tool's Facebook page before you rely on it for a Group.

### How far ahead can I schedule?

Meta Business Suite accepts times from 20 minutes to 29 days ahead. For anything further out, save the post as a draft with **Finish later** and schedule it once it falls inside the window.
